Start with the route, not the price
Most first trips from India follow the Golden Route: Tokyo, Mt. Fuji and Hakone, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. It covers the best-known sights with simple bullet-train links. Add Hiroshima for history, Hokkaido for snow or late cherry blossom, or Okinawa for beaches. Five to nine nights suits most families; fewer nights means more hours in transit, not more Japan.
What a good package should spell out
- Hotels: the category (for example 4-star) and the area, since a hotel near a station saves hours with luggage.
- Transport: private vehicle, coach or public transport for each day, and how luggage moves between cities.
- Meals: which breakfasts and dinners are included, and whether vegetarian options are arranged in advance.
- Guide or driver: which days include a guide, and the language spoken.
- Entrance fees: which attractions are included and which are paid on the spot.
- Exclusions: flights, lunches, tips and personal expenses are usually extra.

How to compare quotes fairly
Ask every operator for the same things: hotel names or category, number of nights per city, vehicle type, meals, entrance fees and the payment schedule. How many days do I need for Japan from India?
Most travellers find 6 to 9 nights comfortable for Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka with a Mt. Fuji day. Shorter trips work if you accept a faster pace.
Are flights included in Japan tour packages?
